…You’ll never peel beans by hand again.

See ehn, I just realized I had been peeling beans wrong all my life. If you have a blender at home and you peel beans by hand, place your hand on your chest and say “why do I like stress?”.

I love akara, moin moin and ekuru. However, the downside of this is how stressful it was peeling beans especially for someone that doesn’t like wahala like myself. For that reason, I would always think well before deciding to take any of those or I sometimes beg my husband to help peel the beans.

Well well well! Some days ago, I stumbled upon a post online about how to peel beans with blender and I decided to give it a try since I was going to make akara. Boy was I mesmerized at the result. I ran to show my husband… The result was astonishing. There and then, I promised I would share it with the world. Honestly, I couldn’t wait to share it.

To peel beans with a blender, soak the beans in normal water for 5minutes on dot, then pour it in your blender with plenty of water. Pulse once twice, thrice and whala, beans don white. Pour it in a bowl with enough water and rinse/seive out the peels. Once clean, soak it for one hour before blending. Auntie, Unkulu, soak it o so you don’t spoil that beautiful (or in my case overworked) blender. That’s all.

Blend your beans and do whatever you would like with it. Check other posts for how to make moin moin, akara or ekuru.
